Remember that “special yarn project” that I mentioned in my last post? Well here it is…
Hand made yarn!
Made from merino wool . . .
Using my “high whorl” drop spindle . . .
A couple of months ago I took a drop spindle class. This was a class about how to spin yarn out of fibers — usually wool, alpaca, silk, etc. — using a yarn making tool known as a drop spindle.
When I first started out, my yarn was looking c-r-a-z-y, like this . . .
But after more practice, I got better . . .
Drop spinning is now one of my new favorite hobbies! I just love the idea of being able to make my own yarn. InshaAllaah this is the beginning of my whorling adventures. I’ll keep you all updated on my spinning projects and happenings!
Before I sign off, let me introduce the spindle family!
Have you spun yarn before? How did you like it? Or did you?
Twinkle, twinkle little star
How I wonder what you are . . .
Good morning (or afternoon depending on when you are reading this)!
I finally … FINALLY … finished the star blanket that I wrote about here. I actually finished the blanket a few months ago, but I am just now posting it.
Alhamdulillaah, I have to say this blanket was extremely easy to crochet. Plus, it’s super warm! I think it’s about 3ft wide, just big enough to drape cozily over the lap.
Since finishing the blanket, I’ve been obsessed with any and everything yarn! I’m currently working on one (1) knitting project, (dos) 2 (two) crochet projects, plus one other special yarn project which I will share in the next post InshaAllaah!
Until next time (InshaAllaah),
Bombay toast is a real treat!
It’s easy to whip this up . . . even as a gluten-free, dairy-free version.
Use gluten-free bread —homemade is the best— in place of wheat bread.
AND, sub almond milk in place of cow milk.
The result is . . . a rich, savory treat.

What’s your newest crochet project?
~ I just casted on a new crochet project, a star blanket! ~
The pattern calls for 2 complementary colored yarn. So, I chose a deep red/pink and a striped pink, grey, and white yarn.
I still have a ways to go, but so far the project is going smoothly, Alhamdulillaah!!
InshaAllaah, can’t wait to see how the final piece turns out!
